About the Swarovski Z8i series
The Swarovski Optics Z8i line of products is a unique and powerful set of scopes with a range of 8 times zoom, up to 93 percent light transmission rate, and a reticle in the second focal plane. The illumination system is sleek and adjustable, the build quality is excellent, and the wide view angle works at any magnification. The Swarovski SR rail can be used for better and easier mounting.
The Z8i series includes the following models: Swarovski Z8i 1-8x24, Swarovski Z8i 0.75-6x20, Swarovski Z8i 1.7-13.3x42, Swarovski Z8i 2-16x50, Swarovski Z8i 2.3-18x56 and Swarovski Z8i 3.5-28x50 (introduced later).

The Z8i 1.7-13.3x42 has a wide field of view and bright illumination, making it suitable even for driven hunts. It provides a very bright red dot setting that allows for optimal visibility in daytime conditions.
Physical properties of Swarovski Z8i 1.7-13.3x42
The Z8i 1.7-13.3x42 model is one of the smallest in the Z8i line, making it a great choice for single-barrel break rifles (Kipplauf) and light stalking rifles. The scope is 33 centimeters long and weighs just 620 grams, making it a much lighter option compared to other models with larger objective lenses.
The Swarovski Z8i 1.7-13.3x42 scope offers a few different reticles, including the 4A-300-I, 4A-I, and 4A-IF, which are all illuminated and positioned in the second focal plane. It also features an innovation—the disappearing dot technology—where the dot is fully illuminated and disappears completely when turned off.
The illumination system of the Z8i 1.7-13.3x42 eyepiece is smaller than on Z6i, with no battery and two buttons at the top for pre-set settings as well as fine adjustments. It features a position sensor to turn off when still and will conserve battery life by automatically turning off when not needed, but can also be easily switched off if desired.
The Z8i 1.7-13.3x42 is equipped with redesigned turrets which provide a smoother feeling and easier reset than previous versions on Z6i. The clicks on all models are one centimeter per 100 meters, and there is a battery located in one of the turret caps with a spare included as well. This series was an improvement over the previous models.
The BTF (Ballistic Turret Flex) is an accessory for elevation and windage turrets that allow users to easily allocate click values to any ballistic curve. The BT turret is user-friendly, easy to put on and take off, and can be attached to either the elevation or windage turrets. It is also made of plastic, making it highly functional as well.
The Z8i model of scopes now offers parallax adjustment, which was not available on the previous 1-8 models. The parallax can be adjusted from 35 meters to infinity in increments of 100 meters. Even though most people do not use this feature, it is an option for those who do.
The Z8i 1.7-13.3x42 features a 30mm central tube but can be upgraded to include the Swarovski SR rail.
